; SCREEN & COLOR: MISC OPTIONS
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 740 Screen misc: Screenblank timeout
!NOINDEX

Here you must specify the amount of time, you want Portal to wait idle on the
main screen, before blanking the screen.

Blanking the screen is important, to minimize strain on your monitor.

NOTE: If you call Portal with parameter -S, this is the time Portal exits
with errorlevel 0.
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 741 Screen misc: 43/50 lines
!NOINDEX

This option tells Portal, if you want to use 43 lines mode (EGA-cards), or
50 lines mode (VGA-cards) on the screen.

If you are using an EGA-card with a CGA-monitor, you will also need to set
this option to 'Y', to force it to use 25 lines.
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 742 Screen misc: Check for snow
!NOINDEX

This option tells Portal, if you want it to check for snow on screen writes.
If your screen flickers (small spots on the screen) while writing, you should
set this option to 'Y'. This should ONLY apply to CGA-cards, but one never
knows........
Setting this option to 'N' will speed up all screen output.
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 743 Screen misc: Keep off screen mode
!NOINDEX

This option tells Portal that it should not change screen mode (to 25 or
43/50 lines controlled by 74143/50 lines) on startup.
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 744 Screen misc: Exploding windows
!NOINDEX

This option has no purpose, other than making the screen look fancy.

When set to 'Y', all windows, and menus created by Portal will 'Explode' up on
the screen. It will be a little slower than just having the windows drawn in
the normal way.
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 745 Screen misc: Hardware screenblank
!NOINDEX

If your graphics card is fairly standard, you may use this option, to turn
screen output off completely, during the idle periods of operation.
If you set it to 'Y' Portal will use the standard built-in methods for
blanking the screen. If it is set to 'N', Portal will simply display a black
window on the entire screen, and then display a clock on top of this. This
clock will be moved around on the screen, to prevent burn-in of the clocks
image, on the screen.
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 746 Screen misc: Four digits year
!NOINDEX

This options controls wether the year in status window is displayed with
two or four digits. If you set it to 'Y' four digits are used to display
the year. If set to 'N' you will see two digits only.
