; DIRECTORIES AND FILES
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 160 Inbound
!NOINDEX

Here you specify in which directory files received by your system should be
placed. This option specifies both files send during a mail-session, and
files received in Dumb Terminal mode.
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 161 Outbound
!NOINDEX

Here you specify the name of the directory you want to use as your holding-
directory, i.e. where compressed mail-bundles are kept.

NOTE: The name of this directory CANNOT have an extension, because the
extension is used for designating a different outbound area for each Zone.
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 162 Nodelist
!NOINDEX

Here you specify the name of the directory where your nodelist files can be
found.

See also: 173Nodelist type
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 163 User filename
!NOINDEX

Here you specify the path and filename of the User file for your BBS.

See also: 171BBS type 169BBS path
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 164 Log filename
!NOINDEX

Here you specify the path and filename of your log file.
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 165 Log level
!NOINDEX

Here you specify how much information you want written to the log file.

Log level can be anything from 1 (least) to 5 (most).
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 166 Use year in log
!NOINDEX

With this option set to 'N' the log will look like this:

  # 24 Dec 00:36:11 PORTAL CONNECT 2400

And if it is set to 'Y' the log will look like this:

  # 24 Dec 92 00:36:11 PORTAL CONNECT 2400
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 167 Default macros
!NOINDEX

Here you can specify a file, containing 23keyboard macros that you want
Portal to load at startup.
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 168 Editor
!NOINDEX

This option is a command to invoke your favorite message editor (ALT-E from
the 10Main screen), it may be an .EXE, .COM or .BAT file.
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 169 BBS Path
!NOINDEX

This should be pointing to the directory where your BBS system keeps its data
files, i.e. where SYSINFO is for QuickBBS/RA, or where SYSTEM*.* is for OPUS.

See also: 171BBS Type 163User filename
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 170 Swap path
!NOINDEX

This should be pointing to a directory where Portal may swap itself to, when
executing various programmes, such as your message editor, to free up maximum
space for the called program to run. It could point to a RAM Disk, or a HD, or
even a diskette, but this would be too slow to work with.
If you have enough EMS or XMS memory, Portal will use it to swap to instead of
this entry.
;
;-----------------------------------------------------------
!TOPIC 171 BBS type
!NOINDEX

BBS type is important for various reasons. Firstly to be able to determine
which user was last online, how to find the file areas, and so on.

;
;-----------------------------------------------------------

!NOINDEX

This file is shown to users, logging on to the system. If you are using more
than one BBS under Portal, you should list the choices here.
