0.25: HS25EDIT.EXE notes: 09/18/05.
-----------------------------------------------------
HS25EDIT.EXE was released officially as version 1.00
on September 20th, 2005. It is *ONLY* usable with
version 2.50 of the H.I.T.S. LORD IGM.

If you are using HITS v2.51+ betas, you *MUST* use
  the SHADEDIT.EXE player editor utility.

Use HS25EDIT.EXE for editing the shadplay.dat file
  created by HITS v2.50.

Usage directions for HS25EDIT are the same as for SHADEDIT,
other than for the fact that they work with different
compilations of Hiding in the Shadows IGM program files.

HS25EDIT.EXE is being released inside the HS25EDIT.ZIP
  distribution archive.

  Usage: Unzip HS25edit.txt, hs25edit.diz, and HS25edit.exe
files from the archive into your HITS v2.50 IGM directory.
Run HS25EDIT.EXE and tell it where the shadplay.dat player
database file for HITS v2.50 is located. This only has to
be done once. An HS25EDIT.CFG file will be created, and
used by the utility on all subsequent uses of the program.

  ------------------ IMPORTANT: 09/18/05 -------------------
Like Shadedit.exe, HS25Edit.exe will allow you to edit the
contents of all player database fields used by the IGM, with
TWO exceptions. The Player Number field and Spouse Number
field are both display-only. The user is NOT allowed to
change those two variables' values. They can only be altered
by the IGM itself as it loads a current player's LORD player
database information and validates that info against the
data stored for that player in the IGM's player database.

If Shadows.exe detects that spouse Number or Player Number
are different for the player, it will correct the the fields
in the IGM's player database record file. SHADOWS.EXE *will
NEVER* change the value of the LORD player number field or
of the LORD Married_To field. The LORD Married_To field is
used to validate the IGM's Spouse Number field, which is
  used inside the IGM.

  HS25EDIT Usage Notes:
  =======================================

WARNING: If you are *NOT* using Hiding In the Shadows v2.50
then do NOT use this program! It is *ONLY* compatible with
H.I.T.S. v2.50. Anyone who violates this warning and uses
HS25EDIT.EXE in a manner it is not intended to loses any right
to technical support from me! I will NOT provide support to
idiots who ignore clearly written warnings, such as this one!!
  ============================================================

  1) Obtain HS25EDIT.ZIP by email request, or by downloading
it from various Fidonet and Internet locations. The
primary distribution source URLs are as follows:

     http://www.filegate.net/camelot/lordfile/hs25edit.zip

     http://www.fidotel.com/public/camelot/LordApps/hs25edit.zip

  2) Unzip all files from HS25EDIT.zip into your HITS IGM
directory, using overwrite mode so you get the newest files.

  3) Change into the Hiding In The Shadows IGM directory. Verify
that you have a current SHADPLAY.DAT file. If you don't
have one, then you can't use HS25EDIT.EXE. A player editor
only works if there is a player database file to work with.

Note that this igm is designed to retain some data from the
prior day when one or more players are asleep in the IGM.

  4) The first time you run the utility, it will ask you for
the path to the Hiding In The Shadows IGM directory. Type
it in, and press ENTER to exit the dialog box prompt.
The utility's config file HS25EDIT.CFG will be created in the
     directory that you specify.

  5) Run HS25EDIT.EXE. If a config file is not in the directory
you run it from, it will ask you to create on - as noted
above. If config file is found, it then checks for existence
of SHADPLAY.DAT file. If one is not found, program will
give error message and quit working.

HS25EDIT has only one screen of data. It shows player
database values that are used by HITS v2.50 on-screen,
one record at a time. As noted earlier, you may *NOT*
change the values of the Player Number and Spouse Number
igm database fields. They are display-only.

Player # is the player's LORD record number, and is not
change-able by the player database editor. The Spouse
Number field identifies for IGM usage who the player is
married to, if they are married to another player. The
field will contain the LORD player # of the current
player's spouse, or -1 if that player is NOT married to
a player. Marriages by a player to Seth Able or Wendy
are ignored in relation to the Spouse Number field.

  6) When you exit HS25EDIT, it will resave the SHADPLAY.DAT
file so that any changes you made will be accessible to
     the IGM.

  7) If you Delete a Player's record, the ACTUAL deletion from
the player database is handled by the IGM when it runs
     New Day processing.

To force the IGM to do New Day, if you REALLY need to do
so, first backup the database file - so you can restore
data later if needed from the backup file. Then delete the
shadtime.dat file and enter the IGM.

The IGM will then do New Day processing and create a
brand new player database, which will only contain the
current player's record and records for any players
who are asleep in the Lair's Inn.

  8) Future versions: None. This is the ONLY release that will
ever be done of HS25EDIT. All future versions of the
Hiding In The Shadows DOS LORD IGM will be using the
SHADEDIT.EXE player editor. If a Lord/32 version of the
IGM is ever released, it will have to have a separate
     player editor of its own.

End of Notes for HS25EDIT usage.
