                                [INTRODUCTION]
I wanted to write an IGM. So here it is. I've seen random event IGMs
before, but not with this range of events! Some just give or take,
others make the player make a choice, and still more test intellect.
A well rounded mix, if you ask me. Oh, yeah, its multi-node and needs
only LORD's drop-file and node definition file. One last thing, please
excuse spelling errors. That's not my high-point in life. - Jason.

  ------------------------------------------------------------
 *LORDCAVE.DAT  : Player record file.
 *CAVETIME.DAT  : Time keeping file.
 *LORDCAVE.CFG  : Configuration file.
 *EXTRA.CFG : Extra config file, see [EXTRA SETUP INFO].

                  computer. (No longer needed - IGM is Freeware.)
  ERROR.LOG : Created in directory ran from, usually LORD's, that has
                  any errors that happen in it.

  * = Needed for program to run.

  BTW: Setup isn't really needed. It's just nice to keep around. <G>

  BUT, if you don't have it, then you can't change your IGM settings.
      Or install new RHP Script events, or view existing ones, etc.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

                                [REQUIREMENTS]
LORD version 3.25 or greater.
DOS (version 3.1 or better) or compatible operating system.
SHARE installed for multinode systems.
A Modem! 300-115,200 baud and any fossil lock baud rate up to 115,200.
  (Works well on telnet, too!)
286 or better processor (should not be a problem...)
Memory! Very little needed to run... never actually bothered to find out.

** Note 1: Share.exe is not required for usage on systems using
Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000/NT, Windows ME, Windows XP,
or non-Microsoft O.S.'s such as OS/2 or Linux. At least for Local
Mode play. It may still be needed for multi-node usage of the IGM.

** Note 2: IGM verified to work without problems under Windows ME.

            Also verified to work under Windows XP, but its handling
            of DOS apps requires one to run IGM in Full-Screen mode.
              Basically, Win-XP runs the IGMs in a 1/3-sized window,
            and will not let you adjust the window size in any fashion
            I could personally verify.

   Running either LORD v4.06 or LORD v4.07 beta (July 2003) compilation. **

*** Note 3: IGM was fully tested using Pentium III and IV CPUs.

** Note 4: In regard, to Windows XP handling of DOS Apps, people can
   check out the following info.

   http://www.jpsoft.com/ - JP Software has a program named 4NT, usable
   with all of the NT-based Microsoft Windows O/S's. It may be usable
   if you can afford the $69.95 cost to run dos apps in a more normal
   fashion than the operating system will let you experience.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

                                 [UPGRADING]
All versions:
Your IGM will need to be reset, if you used ROCK.PRG, it must be renamed
in your EXTRA.CFG.

    From v1.2c or earlier:
Copy the files in the zip over your existing files. See the section
[EXTRA SETUP INFO] to set-up EXTRA.CFG. If you want, edit LORDCAVE.CFG
using SETUP to include your handle, else it is set to a blank string.

    From v1.3 or v1.3a:
Copy the files in the zip over your existing files. If you want, edit
LORDCAVE.CFG using SETUP to include your handle, else it is set blank.

    From v1.3b+:
Copy the files in the zip over your existing files. No additional
configurations needed.
===================================================================

    From v1.4b:
Unzip all files from CAVE16.zip, over-writing existing Cavern files,
into subdirectory where LORD Cavern is installed. If you used any
of the L.O.R.D. Cavern RHP Set #1 and #2 files, those all need to
be replaced with the current versions. So remember to get Caverhp1.zip
and Caverhp2.zip. The most current files are always posted here:

  http://www.fidotel.com/public/camelot/Scripts/ directory.
  http://www.filegate.net/camelot/lordfile/ directory.
  http://www.nightfallgames.com/files - See the IGMs directory.

RHP Script files have to be in the SAME directory as LORD Cavern
is in. Follow the regular instructions for Installation now. The
IGM will run properly without any RHP scripts installed. They
simply add additional dimensions to your adventure in the Cave.

Script authors who use @DEFENSE@, @SKILLUSE@, etc., codes from this
update are reminded that they must use @VERSION@ 1.5 in their scripts.

** Some RHP languages codes created/edited in June/July 2003 will
** require the RHP script author to use @VERSION@ 1.5c (or 1.6).
=======================================

    From v1.5:

Change to subdirectory where L.O.R.D. Cavern is installed, and unzip
CAVE16.ZIP files, using overwrite mode. Re-run SETUP.EXE and check
that your configuration data is shown correctly. Manually edit the
3rdparty.dat file, and change entry for IGM to read:

   The L.O.R.D. Cavern v1.6
=========================================================

Notes regarding update to v1.6:
-----------------------------------------
1) Configuration file LORDCAVE.CFG has a new format, so everyone
   should re-run SETUP.EXE and configure each value. Verify your
   LORD Path, IGM Directory Path, and select Kids per Day adoption
   limit. Save changes in Configuration Menu.

2) Change to Extra Configuration Menu. Verify existing settings
   and then Save Changes.

3) Run Reset IGM files to delete any existing IGM data files.
   Exit the Setup program. Move to LORD directory.

4) If you did not remove previous installation, manually edit
   3rdparty.dat and update the version number. Save changes to
   file. If using LordMenu, update its data files now.

5) Visually verify 3rdparty.dat and delete any dupe entries
   for the IGM. Also visually verify Lordcave.cfg to ensure that
   it contains correct values for your system's LORD game.

If using more than one LORD game, remember that you have to have
SEPARATE LORDCAVE installations for each game. And remember to
make sure each game uses the correct LORD Path. The IGM Path
value was added to aid in showing users which game directory they
were running the IGM's setup program from.

That concludes the update process.
    ==============================================

                  RHP Language Changes in LORD Cavern v1.6:

 -- Added support for non-standard LORD Weapon and Armour
    numbers, such as is used by The Pawn Shop LORD IGM.
 -- Ensured that IGM's special Armour/Weapon names don't exceed
    16 spaces long, since LORD doesn't handle longer names well.
 -- Changed layout of Stats screen shown when script uses
    the @STATS@ RHP Command. Some lines are different from
    version 1.5 used.
 -- Scripts are allowed to increment Kids stat up to the maximum
    value supported officially - 32,000 - by LORD.

 -- The <,> sex gender codes are changed from prior versions.
 -- The {,} (curly brackets) are new.
 -- The x,y codes are also new. See CaveCode.txt for details.

 -- Adoption Handling: IGM now allows adoption up to 16 Kids.
    The per Visit/per day adoption limit is 4 kids. {06/17/03}

 -- CaveCode.txt is up-to-date for v1.5, and v1.6 IGM versions.
 ** The documentation files are kept up-to-date periodically,
    until v1.6 is put into official distribution..

 ** LORD Cavern RHP Set #1 and #2 archives are also updated.

    Always use those URLs, to be sure you get the most current
    release, from the Castle Camelot web-site.
 =================================================================

                               [INSTALLATION]
Put the files in the zip in a directory off of your LORD directory.
I suggest naming the directory "LORDCAVE"? Then run SETUP.

Press 'C' to configure first. Then press 'S' to configure EXTRA.CFG.
This is so the User/Sysop can add RHP programs (see [EXTRA SETUP
INFO]), and to specify how many Cave Searches are allowed each day.

The rest is not too hard to figure out. Just answer all of the questions.
Installing (pressing 'I' after leaving the Configure sub-menu) will put
the IGM's run lines into 3RDPARTY.DAT, and an announcement that The
L.O.R.D. Cavern has been installed will be written in LORD's Daily
Happenings log file (lognow.txt).
------------------------------

The L.O.R.D. Cavern, Outlands Tavern, and the Gateway each use SETUP.EXE
for the configuration program, and each one uses extra.cfg to contain its
Extra Configuration data. Therefore, you must run each IGM from a
separate directory.

Do NOT try to use either IGM with Setup.exe file renamed. Each of those
three IGMs is hard-coded to use setup.exe. For backup purposes ONLY, user
can copy the extra.cfg to LC-extra.cfg name, for example. If you do this,
remember to update that file whenever you have re-run the Setup program,
and made changes in the Extra Config menu.

=========================
Note: The Forest Outhouse v2.xx may be used with LORD Cavern (or
the other two IGMs) in the same directory. Outhouse files will not
interfere with the operation of the other IGMs.

Script authors, who use RHP Test, can run it from whichever
directory contains the RHP files being tested. Its files will not
interfere with operation of either of the four IGMs that use the
RHP Language.
======================================================================

For those of you who want to edit LORDCAVE.CFG yourself, here's a
listing of it:

  LORDCAVE.CFG Listing:
  ==================================
    C:\INTERNET\LORD\
    Unregistered BBS
    Unregistered
    Sysop
    Unknown Handle
    000000
    C:\INTERNET\LORD\LORDCAVE\
    4

Line 1: Path to LORD with trailing backslash
Line 2: Your BBS name
Line 3: Your real first name
Line 4: Your real last name
Line 5: *NEW!* Your handle (optional). Displayed at start up instead
        of your real name, no effect on registration, can include LORD
        codes.
Line 6: Your registration code. ** Not in usage. All versions of this
        IGM are freeware now, and are fully usable. Setup should write
        "000000" to this line. If it doesn't, add it manually.
Line 7: Path to IGM Directory with trailing backslash
Line 8: Kids per Day adoption limit. Allowed range is 1-4.
        The default value is preset to 4.

The LORD path MUST be on the first line, and no comments are allowed
unless they are after the IGM directory path and Kids/Day lines.
----------------------------------------------

In v1.3 - v1.4x versions, the File_id.diz file states that the IGM will
use non-standard COM ports. There is no configuration setting for that,
since the IGM obtains the information from LORD's Node*.Dat file. As long
as LORD is set-up correctly, this will be set-up right in that respect.
I wish more IGMs used that Node*.Dat, too...
----------------------------------------------

These are the lines put in 3RDPARTY.DAT by The L.O.R.D. Cavern:

<path to lordcave>\LORDCAVE.EXE *
`#T`5he `#L`5.`#O`5.`#R`5.`#D`5. `#C`5avern`% v1.6

======================================== Without Color codes:
Example:  c:\lord\LORDCAVE\LORDCAVE.EXE *
The L.O.R.D. Cavern v1.6
-----------------------------------------------------------------

                               [EXTRA SETUP INFO]
Use SETUP's option 'S' to edit the extra information, which allows
you to install RHP scripts, and to set how many Cave Searches are
allowed each day. The program should be straight forward...
-------------------------

Advice to sysops: You should avoid using anything over 60 searches
per day, unless your LORD game is so competitive that normal
interaction between players can off-set the net rewards a player
will get from using L.O.R.D. Cavern each day. Try using the IGM
yourself to get an idea of what # of Cave Searches to use.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

                                 [UNINSTALLING]
Note: To reset The L.O.R.D. Cavern, run SETUP and press 'R'.

Now why would you want to un-install? <G>? Well, run SETUP, press 'U'.
Unless it's in an IGM extender's files. Then use the expander to
uninstall The L.O.R.D. Cavern. IGME is great with that... Wait! I
mentioned something not written by me! Oh, no! Seriously, its a
great program. Look in to it...

==================================================
Provided the user is running LORD v3.50 - v4.00a - by Seth Robinson;
or v4.02 - v4.07 - by Michael Preslar; LORD will automatically handle
as many IGMs as you wish to install. However, unless you are using
the LordMenu utility, any IGMs installed over 24 will result in user
having the Other Places menu scroll upward until the command prompt
appears. Use of LordMenu v1.30 - by Lloyd Hannesson - allows you to
list installed IGMs in a two columns per line menu.
--   http://www.dasme.org/techn/files/lrdmnu13.zip (LordMenu v1.30)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

                                   [USING IT]
Just select The L.O.R.D. Cavern in the Other Places in LORD. It will
do maintenance automatically when the first person for the day enters,
and it doesn't take that long. BTW, if you use 'Clean Mode' in LORD
(with version 3.26+) then the user can't get laid, as found in one
of the random Cave options. It's still there, just reworded so it will
correspond to "Clean Mode" environment.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

                        [REVISIONS - June-November 2002]
Updated program version references for L.O.R.D. Cavern, LordStat,
The Outlands Tavern, and The Gateway. Added info for RHPTest, Stones!,
and L.O.R.D. Cavern RHP Set #2. Updated email contact information.

L.O.R.D. Cavern RHP Sets #1 and #2 documentation updated.

Thanks to Michael Everett, Gary Hartzell, Gordon Lewicky, and
Charlie Wardick for their assistance in beta testing updated
versions in summer 2002.

Special thanks to Charlie Wardick for lessons in learning PASCAL again,
learning how to use Turbo Pascal, and learning LORD programming.

Special thanks to Gordon Lewicky for identifying reason for IGM not
properly generating truly random numbers for determining which IGM
event is executed. Note that the faster the CPU is, the player will
still see some events occur more than others, or perhaps consecutively.
==========

March 06, 2003: minor update of IGM.
    -- Did some color code tweaking, minor dialogue revisions.
    -- Riddler event will no longer cause players to go into negative
    Skill Use points amounts, when they get punished. Or cause the
    skill uses to go above 100 points, when they are rewarded.
    -- Various docs files were brought up-to-date.

March 31, 2003: @KIDS@ RHP Code handling adjusted to use an Upper
    boundary limit of 32,000 instead of v1.5's 15-kids limit.

May 02: Fixed IGM problem discovered while doing Weapons/Armour
    Exchange with Skeleton. IGM did not know what to do when
    player's Weapon/Armour number exceeded 15, so it was putting
    invalid data into the Armour Name or Weapon Name fields when
    the player accepted the trade. Fixed by adding support for
    #16-#20 with associated new names for Weapons and Armour
    that Skeleton possesses. Total revision of amount of Strength
    and Defense player is awarded during the exchanges.

June 14: Thanks also to Joe Kinjin and Rob McGee, new beta testers.

June 14-17: Testing of Configuration file handling changes;
    Testing of new/revised sex gender RHP language codes;
    Testing of Kids per Visit/Day adoption limit.
    Testing of KILL/KILLSAVE RHP codes.

Note: This IGM is NOT tested under LORD/x for Linux. Neither Jason
or I use Linux. So no guarantees are made that this IGM will run
properly under anything other than the DOS version of Legend of the
Red Dragon.

                           { IGM Support Notice: }
  Since I do not use a Linux-based computer, I can not provide support
  for this program if you are using the LORD/x beta, beyond the normal
  DOS LORD IGM support level.

  As of Nov. 06th, 2003, LORD/32 for Windows is in beta #2. It does
  not yet support IGM usage. When it does, and is stable for Local
  Mode usage for people like myself, I will test L.O.R.D. Cavern, The
  Gateway, The Outlands Tavern IGMs; the LordStat and RHP Toolkit LORD
  utilities; my LPEdit LORD player editor utility; and The Gem Trader,
  The Nice Hag, The Forest Outhouse, The L.O.R.D. Gambling Casino, and
  The Pawn Shop LORD IGMs -- to see if any changes need to be made, in
  order to provide Lord/32 support for them.
  ---------------------------------

  In summary, this program may be used with DOS LORD versions and will
  be fully supported. Limited support may be available eventually for
  LORD/32 users, running my LORD programs. It depends on whether Michael
  Preslar releases details on how IGMs are to interact differently, if
  at all, when they are run by either LORD/X or LORD/32.

Subsequent updates: v1.7. Conversion of IGM from DDPlus to ANGEL Toolkit.
         Have not decided WHEN this will be done.

                  END -- L.O.R.D. Cavern IGM documentation.
