What is PB_READ

I wanted to be able to show my users some ASCII files without preparing
these files with an editor or converting them to ansi. You could say that
Proboard allows sysops to insert ASCII files into a menu very easily.
But there was still a problem, when a user is reading a large ASCII file,
he or she may want to scroll back. This feature isn't implemented in
Proboard. But luckely Proboard has PEX options to expand your BBS easely.

So PB_READ allows users to browse through ASCII files the sysop has put
online for him/her. It even shows colors when in ANSI mode. The sysop doesn't
have to prepare an ASCII file for PB_READ. Just install the door in your BBS
and specify which ASCII file must be shown to your users. PB_READ is
multi-line ofcourse!
User can also search through your text files. When prompting 'F'ind, PB_READ
wil search from the first page until the page it finds the specified string.
When prompting 'A'gain, it will search from the current page until it finds
the specified input string again.

Installing PB_READ

Installing PBREAD is quite simple. Just put PB_READ into a type 60 menu with
1 or 2 parameters:

     - The first parameters is the full name of your ASCII file. It must
include the path and the extension of the file!
     - The second parameter is optional. PB_READ divides an ASCII file into
several files. This is done in the current line directory. To speed
up the process, it can be done on a ramdisk. The second parameters,
if entered, must be a path name.

To display this textfile on line two, the commandline should be:

     pb_read.exe c:\text\pb_read.txt e:\temp

You can alter some colors in PB_READ with the .INI file. The .INI file must be
placed in the PEX directory. Just look at the .INI file from this archive for
the keywords which can be used with PB_READ.

Because PB_READ was written as a PEX file, you will have all proboard
functionality when this door is started. If the carrier drops, the PEX file
is interrupted and not finished. This will mean the ASCII chunks will not
be removed from your HD. No harm done, when another users enters PB_READ,
these chunks will be removed anyway. You may also remove these files manualy.
They are named '$READxxx.yyy, where xxx is the page number and yyy the
nodenumber.

PB_READ is not freeware. This is my first program for which I ask a
shareware fee. I wrote a lot of software in the past and on most programs
I never heard anything. But I, as you, don't like to pay that much money
for each program. So hereby I ask a little shareware fee. This fee will be
the same ammount for each country. It depends upon money index of your
country.
The money fee is : 2.50 ! So if you live in the Netherlands, you should pay
2.50 guilders. If you live in the USA, it will be 2.50 dollar and if you
live in Belgium, you're realy lucky. I think for most countries this will
be a fair ammount of money. If not... just pay me 2.50 dollar.

You can transfer the money to

     ABN/AMRO
     Nr : 51.37.70.054

     or

     Postgiro
     Nr : 4829115

     To: Peter Bloemendaal
         Den Haag

If it is impossible for you to transfer the money to one of these accounts,
you can put the fee in an enveloppe and send it to:

     Peter Bloemendaal
     Pluvierstraat 471
     2583 GZ The Hague
     The Netherlands
