 JAMMIT - ProBoard 2.1x PEX Version 1.00 (C)1996 Fe-line Software
Written by Faye Pearson, Docs by Sarah Pearson (7th March 1996)

JAMMIT is a ProBoard 2.1x PEX that will create an ECHOMAIL.JAM file as and
when messages are either uploaded or entered online.

PLEASE NOTE : This PEX has only been tested on Single Node systems, and
although no damage will be done on a Multi-Node system, if more
than 1 User at a time is accessing the Message Base, JAMMIT
will probably fail to correctly write the ECHOMAIL.JAM file.
We will hopefully fix this in a future release.

Why?
----

Well, ProBoard only creates an ECHOTOSS.LOG file, which for jam users, is
useless. Most decent Mail Tossers can make use of ECHOMAIL.JAM to make the
scanning of your JAM Message Base a lot faster as only new Echomail messages
that have been entered into your Message Base are scanned.

There is a utility called PBJAM that claims to convert your ECHOTOSS.LOG file
into a useable ECHOMAIL.JAM file. We were asked in our capacity as ProBoard
*UK* Support BBS, whether ProBoard supported ECHOMAIL.JAM, to which we replied
try PBJAM2. We received a reply saying that PBJAM was useless as it didn't
store the message id's in the ECHOMAIL.JAM file it created. Which makes
PBJAM's output nearly useless.

We decided to try and make a PEX that could convert the ECHOTOSS.LOG and use
the Message Base itself to create a fully functional ECHOMAIL.JAM.

We managed to create a pex, that not only creates the ECHOMAIL.JAM file as it
should be, but also does it in an instant and also removes JAM echotags from
ECHOTOSS.LOG for those messages that have successfully been added to
ECHOMAIL.JAM.

This may speed up your Squish Scanning if you use a combination of the 2.

Installation
------------

Copy JAMMIT.PEX into your ProBoard PEX Directory.

Take your BBS offline and scan your Message Base to remove any outstanding
echomail exports.

Load ProCfg and go into the Menu Editor.

Where previously you had a menu entry such as :

 HotKey : W
 Function : 27 - Write Message
 Data : *

 Min.Level: 0 Nodes: All nodes
 Max.Level: 15

Change it to look like :

 HotKey : W
 Function : 60 - Run SDK File
 Data : JAMMIT 27 *

Or in general : JAMMIT [MenuFunction Number] [Data]

This is needed wherever echomail is entered into a JAM Message Base.

Examples, "Read Messages", "Enter Message", "Comment to sysop (if echomail)",
"QWK Mail Doors" basically *any* Menu option that allows a message(s)
to be entered into JAM Message Base.

BlueWave creates/appends to ECHOMAIL.JAM (but make sure that the path in
BWSETUP is your ProBoard Message Base directory. (eg, c:\pb\msgbase\)

Some Mail Tossers support ProBoard directly (eg, Fastecho) so will look in
the ProBoard Message Base directory anyway, so if your Mail Tosser does not
support ProBoard, make sure that you set it up to look in the ProBoard
Message Base directory for ECHOMAIL.JAM
